John Tierney, Esq.
John Tierney began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York wherein he was promoted to Trial Assignment Part I (TAP) leader and then to the position of Designated Felony Liaison for Juvenile Offenders. In this role, he successfully prosecuted and tried dozens of gang-related assaults and robberies, felony gun possession cases, conducted felony interrogations, and successfully prosecuted a multiple defendant rape trial. He finished his tenure in the Narcotics Trial Bureau.
In private practice, as a result of the strong investigative and trial experience obtained early in his career, John has specialized in Civil Litigation Defense and built the Tierney Law Group from the ground up, since 2002. The firm focuses on Civil Defense matters on behalf of Fortune 500 Companies and Major Insurance companies. Uniquely successful in dozens of trials in both New York and New Jersey, and in several areas of law, John prides himself on strategic, tactical, and effective trial advocacy through preparation and passion. He endeavors continually to demonstrate “Excellence in the Great Issues, through Excellence in the details.” Specifically, the firm has been uniquely successful in the defense of General Liability and Premises Liability matters, Products liability actions, Construction accidents, strip malls, commercial owners, and property managers, non-profit charitable, religious and educational institutions, Title 59 actions against municipalities, and has obtained outstanding results in a vast array of civil litigation, coverage, and criminal defense matters.
John Tierney was Lead Counsel in the development of a seminal area of New Jersey Law on the issue of damages, as reported in Philip Kozma v. Starbucks Coffee Company, 412 N.J. Super. 319 (App. Div. 2010) as well as Lead Counsel in the “Coffee Wars” in New Jersey on behalf of a Fortune 500 Coffee Retailer. Nation-wide, he has presented to Insurance Carriers and Fortune 500 Companies concerning Investigative techniques in defense of Liability as well as Defense of High Exposure, Complex damages cases.
Matthew Simon, Esq.
Matthew Simon graduated with Honors in 2001 from St. John's University in Queens, New York. He obtained admission to the Criminal Justice, Golden Key, and Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Societies while working 40 hours/week to pay for school.
After college, he graduated in the top 1/3 of his class from Hofstra Law School and interned with Supreme Court Judge, Laura Jacobson. Further, Matt trained with the New York County District Attorney's Office and participated in the Hofstra Child Advocacy Clinic.
Since joining the firm in January, 2005, Matt has continually exhibited diligence, zeal, and superior execution while trying cases in both New Jersey and New York, managing his own case load, and conducting depositions, motion practice, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations in a variety of General Liability, Construction, and personal injury matters.
Matt is a loving husband and father. Recreationally, Matt trains in the martial art of judo and has obtained the rank of "Nidan," second degree black belt. He continues to train and instruct children in the sport of judo and also enjoys playing softball, flag football, pinochle and chess socially.
Robert Di Lauri, Esq.
Robert Di Lauri joined The Tierney Law Group in 2014. He is experienced in a variety of civil litigation defense fields, insurance defense, premises liability defense, and employment law.
Robert graduated from Albany Law School in 2010. During the course of his studies, he completed internships with the Albany County Family Court and the Morris County Superior Court. In addition, he participated in Albany Law School's moot court and negotiation competitions. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ann R. Bartlett J.S.C., New Jersey Superior Court, Family and Criminal Divisions. After his clerkship, he excelled as a claims analyst at a large, well-respected insurance carrier, where he gained extensive experience handling employment and insurance coverage matters.
Prior to law school, Robert graduated from Moravian College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He was also a member of the Political Science Honors Society and the Moravian Men's Tennis Team.
Robert is an active member of the Morris County Bar Association, and is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the State of New York.
Recreationally, Robert enjoys playing tennis, rock climbing, hiking and scuba diving.
Romain Walker, Esq.
Romain Walker joined The Tierney Law Group in May 2015. He has an extensive background in Insurance Defense, complex civil and commercial litigation, professional malpractice, criminal defense, and real estate litigation. He has practiced in both federal and state courts, obtaining successful multi-million dollar outcomes for corporate clients. He presently specializes in General Liability, insurance defense, and premises liability.
Romain is a graduate of Rutgers Law School – Newark where he was a recipient of the Ralph Bunche Fellowship and other academic scholarships. He was an Associate Editor of the Race and Law Review Journal, and a Program Administrator for the Minority Student Program. He also privately tutored law students in Contracts and Torts.
Prior to law school, Romain attended Rutgers University – New Brunswick where he graduated with High Honors as a Psychology major and was awarded the prestigious Marilyn L. Shaw Award for outstanding original research. He was also a Henry Rutgers Scholar, a recipient of the Rutgers University Undergraduate Research Fellow, and was awarded a grant for original research.
Romain is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the State of New York, and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
He is active in his community as a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County.
NOTEWORTHY CASE LAW DECISIONS:
Damien McAndrews, Esq.
Damien McAndrews, Esq. joined the firm in December 2015. He is a 2005 graduate of the Catholic University, Columbus School of Law and is a member of both the New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Bar Associations.
Prior to joining the firm, Damien spent most of his career in government relations at both the federal and state level. He was a member of the Federal Relations Team of TIAA (formerly TIAA-CREF), a Fortune 100 Financial Services company where he represented the company before Members of Congress, and their staff, and regulatory officials of the Administration. He was also a liaison to several industry trade associations such as the Financial Services Roundtable and American Council of Life Insurers. In addition, as staff attorney with MultiState Associates, in Virginia, he represented MasterCard and other financial services organizations at the state level for all fifty (50) states.
Damien is a member of the Frank Herbert – Pat Cady Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and volunteers with his parish. He is a baseball and ice hockey fan and also enjoys tennis and golf.
Robert Savino, Esq.
Robert Savino graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University, in 2005, and cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law, in 2008. During law school, Robert earned many prestigious awards, including the Raymond Del Tufo Award for Excellence in Constitutional Law and the Oral Argument Award for Appellate Advocacy. His bar admissions include New York, New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Robert has previously represented clients in a diverse array of legal matters, including consumer debt relief, bankruptcy, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) arbitration, and defense of personal injury litigation. Robert has successfully represented the insured for large, multi-state insurance companies in insurance defense litigation matters throughout his career and continues to do so.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys practicing martial arts.
